wicked wrenching customs
FixMyShox came to fruition when I started reading online postings from vintage bike enthusiasts complaining that they had been turned away from suspension speciality shops because their components were too old. I empathised with the frustration they had when hitting that brick wall, and having someone on the phone telling them "It's pretty old and useless - you should just throw it away and buy one of our new products instead!"...
That all may be very well and easy to say over the phone, and I understand that for many service outlets specialising in suspension it is hard to find parts for unsupported products these days - but there are still a few bugging details that remain;
1. Updating suspension is not always textbook. To ensure the bike still rides with the intended geometry you have to match the forks sprung height, trail and brake mounting style - this is not always easy to do these days.
2. Many enthusiasts want their bike to still look 'period correct' i.e. you do not want a post 2000 fork on your pre 2000 bike as it will not look like the original spec that was released during that time. looks are everything!
For these reasons I decided to offer a suspension repair/ tuning service that caters for the vintage marketplace. I am lucky that I still have all of my original tooling and service books (plus the experience of rebuilding these forks for many years!) for most suspension forks pre dating 1999. I also have created a vast network of vendors worldwide that I can rely on for spare parts, and also have the ability to fabricate custom parts in my workshop if needed.
While vintage is the house speciality - I am also certified in servicing most of the current brands of suspension and can offer competitive rates on fork / shock / dropper post rebuilds for the current bikes. Please refer to the Repairs menu tab for pricing, and my Facebook page also has services and current inventory spare parts/hop ups for purchase as well.
